There is a moment in most successful solo ventures when the founder considers hiring. Revenue is climbing, the inbox is full, and there is a vague sense that growth requires a team. This is usually a trap.
Somewhere between $200,000 and $300,000 in annual revenue sits an optimal zone where a single person can extract maximum profit with minimum complexity. Above it, you hire and become a manager. Below it, you are trading time for money without leverage. At $250,000, done properly, you keep 70 to 80 percent as profit while maintaining full control of your calendar.
