The Weight You Carry

On Buoyancy and the Drag of Unfinished Things

There is a principle in physics that objects naturally rise or fall to their equilibrium point. A balloon filled with helium ascends until the surrounding air matches its density. A cork pushed underwater springs back to the surface the moment you release it. The default state is buoyancy, movement toward equilibrium, unless something holds it down.

I believe humans work the same way. Left unencumbered, we rise. Joy returns. Clarity sharpens. A sense of lightness emerges that feels less like achievement and more like restoration, a return to something that was always there. But most of us never experience this for long, because we are not unencumbered. We are dragging weight.
