Why You're Not Scared Enough

Why You're Not Scared Enough

The Mathematics of Running Out of Time

How many genuine attempts are left at 35? At 40? At 45?

Not vague aspirations. Not "I'll try this for a few months." Actual, full-commitment attempts where everything is on the line.

Do the calculation. Age. Years remaining before energy and circumstances change the game. The time each real attempt actually takes.

The number is smaller than most people think. Probably three to five attempts. Maybe fewer.

And most men are currently wasting one.

The Mathematics Nobody Wants to Do

Let's say a man is 32 and wants to build a business that generates genuine wealth. Real money. The kind that buys freedom.

A proper attempt takes three to four years minimum. Not dabbling. Not "trying it on the side whilst working a day job." An actual, full-commitment attempt where everything is on the line.

Most men have productive working years until roughly 60 before the landscape changes. Energy drops. Risk tolerance shrinks. Health becomes a variable that can't be ignored.

That's 28 years remaining.

Divided by four years per attempt equals seven attempts maximum.

Sounds reasonable until reality gets added.

The first attempt requires income, which means building whilst working another job. Half-committed equals half the chance of success. That attempt likely doesn't count.

The first real attempt will probably fail because nobody knows what they don't know yet. Four years gone.

Recovery takes eight months minimum, both financially and emotionally. More time gone. Some people stretch this to 18 months because they're not just recovering, they're avoiding starting again.

Life will intervene. Illness. Family emergencies. Economic downturns. Kids. The unexpected chaos that derails plans. Another two years scattered across the timeline.

An attempt gets wasted on the wrong strategy because the lesson from the first failure didn't land. The same mistakes get repeated with minor tweaks, another three years disappearing whilst discovering that the problem wasn't the details, it was the approach.

Suddenly it's down to three genuine, informed, well-executed attempts.

At 35 still thinking about it? Two attempts remaining.

By 40? One legitimate shot. Maybe.
