How many men have ever been disciplined without being told what to do?
There's a type of man who looks driven. Good grades. Solid career. Promotions. Results. He checks his track record and sees someone who gets things done. A man with real discipline.
But every environment he's performed in came with a built-in framework that told him what to do and when to do it.
School gave him a timetable, a syllabus, and a deadline every few weeks. University gave him a course outline, exam dates, and the implicit threat of wasted tuition if he didn't show up. His job gave him a manager, KPIs, a meeting at 9am, and a performance review that determined his bonus.
At every stage, someone or something was providing the push. And he responded to it brilliantly. So he assumed the performance was coming from him.
It wasn't. It was coming from the framework around him. He was the response, not the cause.
