The Weight Of Waiting

The Weight Of Waiting

The Things You're Waiting For Are Keeping You Stuck

You're carrying weight you don't need to carry.

Every single thing you're waiting for adds another stone to your pack. Waiting for the right moment. Waiting for more money. Waiting to feel confident. Waiting for results from what you started three days ago. Waiting for the weekend. Waiting for the email reply. Waiting for someone else to make a decision.

Each one sits on your shoulders. Slowing you down. Making everything harder than it needs to be.

Waiting feels passive. Like you're just pausing until conditions improve. You're not. Each wait is an active drain on your energy, your focus, your ability to move forward.

The Inventory of What's Holding You Back

List everything you're currently waiting for. Actually write it down.

Waiting to start the business until you have $10,000 saved. Waiting to ask for the promotion. Waiting to see if the diet works. Waiting for your girlfriend to change. Waiting to feel motivated. Waiting for the market to stabilise.

Count them.

Most men carry between five and fifteen things they're waiting for at any moment. Each one creates a small anxiety loop in your brain. A background process constantly checking: is it time yet? Do I have enough yet? Has it worked yet? Should I check again?

Your brain is running fifteen waiting programmes simultaneously, burning energy you could be using to actually build something. Even when you're working, part of your mind is waiting, checking, monitoring, draining you.

The Mundane Waits You Don't Even Notice

Those are the obvious ones. But there's another category quietly draining you. The small things you don't even recognize as waiting.

Waiting for your business partner to reply before you move forward. Waiting for the weekend because weekdays are too busy. Waiting for your energy to return. Waiting for the rain to stop. Waiting for your friend to confirm.

These slip by unnoticed. They feel reasonable. But they're still waiting.

You notice when you're waiting for $10,000. You don't notice when you're waiting for Tuesday, the email reply, better weather, the right mood to strike.

Add them all up. You're probably carrying twenty or thirty things you're waiting for right now.

Write those down too. They're just as heavy as the big ones.

Now look at what you're really telling yourself about these waits.
