Move Better, Feel Better

Tips to Improve Your Mobility

There are usually two reasons why we begin losing the mobility we once had. The first of the two is because of age. As we grow older, our flexibility decreases and our time needed to recuperate from strenuous work or exercise increases. Remember the days when you were in your 20s and you could do a strength training workout, followed by an hour of basketball, and then finish it off with some swimming that night?

These activities would probably take you a much longer time to recover from now, but back then you would quickly bounce back and do it all over again the next day. If you are in your 40s or older and not used to these exercises, just doing one of those today will make you feel like you have been hit by a truck the next morning.

The other reason most people lose mobility is because of weight gain. Whether you are young or old, if you put on extra weight, it affects you in numerous unhealthy ways. And you can count on your flexibility diminishing the more bad weight you add on.

However, don’t despair about your reduced mobility and your overall trouble getting around. There are ways to improve your flexibility that will lead you back to a more active lifestyle. Follow these tips below and watch your soreness disappear over time.

Start With a Healthy Diet

Part of the reason you are feeling achy and having a tougher time moving around like you used to is because your current diet is not providing you with the essential nutrients and vitamins your body needs. Furthermore, if you have an extra 20 pounds or more hanging around your waist, it can be awfully difficult to maneuver through your day. Changing to a healthier diet could eliminate many of your mobility problems.

Nearly 40 per cent of adults in the United States are considered technically obese. That does not even take into account the people who are just labelled as merely overweight. Fast food and soda are becoming the staples of too many individuals’ everyday diets. These things provide very little nutritional value. There are several quality diets available out there that can remedy this situation. The key is to choose one that you believe you can stick to as a committed lifestyle change. Dropping that spare tyre will raise your mobility through the roof. Won’t you be proud of yourself when you are able to touch your toes again, let alone see your toes again?
