You know the feeling.
It's 2:47pm on a Wednesday. You're at your desk, or in your car, or standing in the kitchen staring at nothing in particular. And there it is. That quiet heaviness in your chest. That nameless weight pressing down on you.
Nothing is wrong. Not technically. The bills are paid. Your health is fine. Nobody died. There's no crisis demanding your attention.
But something is off. And it's been off for a while now.
You're not depressed. At least you don't think so. You still laugh at jokes. You still enjoy a cold beer on Friday. You still care about the people in your life.
But somewhere between waking up and going to sleep, you lost something. Some spark that used to be there. Some sense that you were building towards something that mattered.
Now you're just maintaining. Existing. Getting through.

Most Men Won't Admit This
We're conditioned to only acknowledge problems when they reach crisis level. Job loss. Divorce. Health scare. Those are real problems. Those deserve attention.
But this vague emptiness? This sense of going through the motions? That's just life, right? That's just what being an adult feels like.
So you bury it. You tell yourself you're fine. You keep showing up, keep performing, keep pretending.
And it works. Until another Wednesday afternoon rolls around and you're staring at your computer screen wondering how you got here. Wondering if this is really all there is.
That Feeling Is a Signal
That weight in your chest isn't a malfunction. It's a message.
Your mind is telling you that the life you're living has drifted away from the life you actually want. Somewhere along the way, you started making decisions to meet other people's expectations. To avoid risk. To fit a template of success that was never yours to begin with.
That feeling is the gap between where you are and where you know you could be.
That gap doesn't shrink on its own. Left alone, it widens. Slowly. Quietly. Until one day you wake up at 55 and realise you spent three decades in a life that was never really yours.
